IGA

IGA Stadium (often called Stade IGA) is a prominent outdoor tennis stadium and sports facility located at 285 Rue Gary‑Carter in the Parc Jarry area of Montréal, Québec, Canada.

Stade IGA serves as both a public tennis centre and a major international competition venue. It was built in the mid‑1990s (ground broken in 1995 and officially opened in 1996) and is owned and operated by Tennis Canada.

The stadium’s centerpiece is its main court — a hard‑court surface using DecoTurf — with seating for around 11 800 spectators, making it one of the larger tennis stadia in Canada.

Each year at the beginning of August, Stade IGA is an essential site for the Canadian Open (branded as the National Bank Open presented by Rogers), one of the top professional tennis tournaments on both the ATP Tour Masters 1000 and the WTA 1000 circuits. The tournament alternates host cities; in years when Montréal hosts the women’s event, the men play in Toronto, and vice versa.

In addition to the main court, the facility includes multiple outdoor and indoor courts for public use, development, and training, serving as a national centre for tennis coaching, competition, and community play. Its spaces can also be adapted for social events, conferences, and performances beyond sport.

The venue’s name has changed over time based on sponsorship: it started as Du Maurier Stadium, became Uniprix Stadium, and since 2018 has been known as Stade IGA after a partnership with the Canadian grocery brand IGA.

Overall, Stade IGA is both a community tennis hub and an internationally recognized competition venue, deeply embedded in Montréal’s sporting culture.
